Goodbye, Assassins, you gleefully dark little musical you! You know, there are some shows that get funnier with every performance, as you hear the jokes over and over and come to appreciate them on multiple levels. Assassins, on the other hand, is quite the opposite - what's funny the first time has unsettling undertones by the fifth repetition. The fridge horror behind many of the innocuous lines really does add to the show's depth and impact, though, so it's not a bad thing. My brain usually hits 'creative urge peak time' some time between 8pm and 7am. This is kind of a problem. I need to get up very early tomorrow.
